Synopsis
BLACK NOISE
A Hallucinatory Psychological Thriller
Most families have secrets. Some families have lies.
And some families have blood on their hands.
Synopsis
BLACK NOISE is a tale of those two uneasy bedfellows; Justice & Revenge.
In a decaying country house hotel that once hid a brutal orphanage, Leda a ghostwriter, arrives to interview a wealthy, dysfunctional family; intent on exposing their crimes.
As she’s drawn under the spell of the enigmatic Butler and his ghostly silent staff, reality dissolves into hallucinatory fever dreams and the nightmarish black noise that accompanies them.
Might it be Leda has a fractured psyche? Herself also a victim of the abuse she seeks to uncover, stuck in a never-ending search for answers hidden deep within.
A lavish memorial banquet becomes a Grand Guignol massacre, forcing her to confront how far she will go for justice and whether revenge can ever purge the atrocities of the past.
A strangely seductive fantasy, richly atmospheric, a fractured narrative which slowly reveals itself as a cinematic fever dream.
Referencing the films of Dario Argento, Polanski’s “Rosemary Baby”, the Quay Brothers “Institute Benjamenta”, Peter Greenaway’s “The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover” and Corman’s “The Masque of The Red Death”. Downtown Abbey on acid.
